"Summer academy targeting minority students in Grand Rapids to diversify underrepresented STEM fields" | For The Grand Rapids Press
From Article: The Sankofa STEM Summer Academy, one of the nonprofit’s signature programs, kicked off June 21 at Davenport University. The program is designed to help students further improve their math and science proficiency while incorporating fun, hands-on STEM activities in a college setting.
The summer program is operated by local nonprofit STEM Greenhouse, which Christopher launched in 2014 to grow STEM proficiency among children of color. She felt many existing STEM programs were not designed to prepare kids for STEM careers because they didn’t address foundational inequities in math and science education.
