"It's hard for me to write a review for the services Alfield has provided for our engagement session and wedding. He has blown me and my husband (and our families) away by how beautiful his work is. I am left stunned every time I receive our pictures back. (which I must add is so quick, took him 3 days to get us back 500 edited wedding pictures!) He captures beautiful moments. But his talent runs much deeper than that. If you couldn't tell his young age by looking at him, you would think he has been photographing couples in GR for 75 years. He is effortless when finding the most stunning angles and locations. But, It honestly seems like it comes naturally. He can be in a room for the first time and know all the right areas for pictures. My now Husband used to hate whenever anyone would take his photo and was not looking forward to the engagement session after he met Alfield and we completed taking the photos and got to the car, my husband looked at me and said: "we should get pictures every anniversary with him". !!!!!!!! That's crazy. He even confirmed this after the wedding about how Alfield makes getting photos fun. He isn't all in your face, he is precise and doesn't waste your time, so it feels like you are just spending time with your S.O. As weird as this may seem, sometimes you forget Alfield is shooting because you feel so relaxed and comfortable that you just do what comes natural (not a common thing with me and my husband when it comes to being around other people). I know this is a long post, especially for someone who NEVER writes reviews, but Alfield deserves it. I never thought a little goofy looking couple could be photographed in a way that makes them look like they could be on the cover of Vogue Magazine, but here we are. He's great. The Experience
Step 1 - Let’s Chat!
You’ve seen my work, and you like what you see. Now it’s time to learn more about working with me! We’ll meet via Zoom or in-person so we can get to know one another and you can tell me all about your wedding day plans. We will talk about my package offerings if you haven't already chosen one already.
After our meeting, I will follow up with the photography agreement, booking invoice and shot list of desired shots.
Booking & Payment Process
- Read & Sign Contract
- Pay $500 to book date (Part of full package fee, not extra) Non-Refundable
- 1st ½ of Remaining package fee due, no later than 3 weeks before wedding date
- 2nd ½ of Remaining package fee due no later than 2 weeks after pictures are complete.
Step 2 - Post-Booking
My role as your Photographer isn’t just about showing up, photographing your wedding, and delivering images. I work with you every step of the way to ensure that all your questions are answered, that we are on the same page about the timeline, and that we can discuss how the photography will play into the schedule of the day.
Step 3 - Leading Up to the Big Day
At the beginning of your wedding year, I reach out to check in with you and make sure the plans are the same. If you have all your details ready, we will work together to finalize the day-of timeline, and you will also send me your final family photo list.
I keep in touch with you both six and two months out from your wedding date, and then we check back in the month of the wedding to make sure nothing has changed.
Communication is key to ensuring that all your needs for the day are accounted for, and no surprises arise on the day of your wedding.
Step 4 - Image Delivery
You are officially married and now you're dying to see your photos!
Your full gallery of images is delivered within 1-2 weeks.
When I deliver your full online gallery, you will receive instructions on how to download the images, as well as detailed instructions on when you will be receiving your physical photo package including items like prints, usb, etc.
FAQ
How many years have you been working?
I picked up photography during my sophomore year at Western Michigan University. Start my photography business in April of 2013 and have been a full-time photographer since August of 2017.
Will you be photographing my wedding?
Yes, I photograph all of my clients’ weddings!
Do you usually work alone or do you have a second photographer or assistant present?
Depending on the package you book, you have the option for a second photographer.
What type of equipment do you use?
I use professional Nikon gear including a full range of prime and zoom lenses and lighting equipment. I always have backup equipment with me.
Will you be photographing with a digital or film camera?
I take digital photographs.
Will you be able to do a mix of color and black and white photographs?
All images are hand-edited using the latest professional software. Personally I love black and white but you will get a good mix of color and black and white
Do you photograph engagement sessions? When are engagement sessions scheduled?
Yes I do. We can can work together on a mutually convenient date and time for a session.
Will we be able to receive a digital copy of the images?
Yes, digital files are included in my packages.
How long after the wedding will the photos be available to us?
Images are available 1-2 weeks after the your special day.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes I do.
Do you charge travel fees?
Depending on the location of your wedding, a travel fee may apply. The travel fee is based on the IRS Standard Travel Rate , which is 71 cents per mile. This will be discussed in our introductory conversation.
What happens if there is an extreme emergency and you cannot photograph our wedding?
In the case of an extreme emergency such as severe illness or injury and I am unable to photograph your wedding, the second photographer becomes the primary photographer, or a fill-in photographer will be scheduled if a second has not been booked. If a second photographer has been booked and becomes the primary photographer, a new second photographer will join them. All my second photographers are professional photographers that meet my strict standards of training, quality, professionalism and similar shooting style.
What forms of payment do you take?
I accept cash, check or credit card. A signed contract and a $500 non-refundable deposit (off the top of the total fee) is required to book and secure the date and time.
What happens if I need to cancel my wedding or change the date?
In the event of a cancellation or postponement of the wedding, the $500 non-refundable deposit you paid to secure the date and time is non-refundable.
Can I print the photographs on my own? Do I own them?
While you are allowed to print the photographs that you are provided, I remain the copyright holder of all photographs.
How do you deliver the images to me?
I will provide you with an online gallery from which you can download the digital files.
Can we order prints through you?
You can order prints directly through the online gallery I provide to you.
Should I buy an album?
I strongly believe that wedding albums are equally as important as the digital photographs. For one of the most important days of your life, your photos deserve to be held in your hands so you can experience the day over and over again. My Package A comes with a album. See packages above!
Do you retouch the images?
My edits include color correction and toning and removal of noticeable blemishes on the bride and the groom.
How many pictures will we get?
There are many factors that play into the number of photographs I will deliver to you, including the duration of the event, the number of guests and whether or not you book a second photographer.
Can I get a copy of the raw images?
I do provide you with fully edited, high-resolution Jpeg images to ensure that each image represents the high quality and standards of my business.
How do you handle family portraits?
Usually family portraits are taken directly after the ceremony but I work with you in advance of the big day to come up with a day-of timeline that leaves enough room for family, couple, and wedding party portraits. We will work together to create a list of essential portraits so that nothing is missed on the big day.
Do we meet before we book you?
Yes! Meeting before you book me is a great way to get to know one another and look at sample albums so you can feel and see the products. I am based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Meetings can take place via Zoom or Facetime (especially in these covid times) or in person if you can comfortable with that!
